Short: An interesting game of backgammon. v2.83
Author: glynnk@cadvision.com (Kevin Glynn)
Uploader: glynnk@cadvision.com (Kevin Glynn)
Type: game/board
This program should work on any Amiga with OS 2.04 or greater and will
use a 640 x 480 AGA multiscan screen if available. I've also heard
that it works good on a Picasso card and even on a Mac using U.A.E.
ProGammon is operating system friendly, it's full of options yet it
remains small and very cpu and memory efficient.
If you like backgammon then you will enjoy this program.
--------------------------------------------------------
Version 2.83:
-the random opening moves feature finally works the way I intended.
It now also gives random suggestions for your opening move when
using TRAINER mode.
-a version for users with a 68020 or better is included.
Version 2.82:
-fixed a small bug that sometimes caused stones to be created just
outside the main board when using Undo Move.
-fixed the stats screen text color so it should now be the same
as in the main program.
-changed the menu background color so it's easier to see.
-added a NOBORDER tool type.
-a couple of very minor changes in game play.
-changed the default palette. Thanks go to Tomas Amsrud for this
combination of colors. Now it looks as good as it plays!
Version 2.8:
-some more new tool types! CPU= and MAN= allow you to set
the board up anyway you like. USERDICE allow you to use your
own dice and enter values in from the keyboard. SHOWMOVE will
display the previous Amiga move in the upper left corner.
-finally, the JENA tool type will allow you to play the game the
way Volkmar does in Jena, Germany. Players are limited to a
maximum of 5 stones per point in Jena.
-a new Auto Play feature. One mouse click in the lower right
corner of the board and the Amiga will move your stones for
you. An Amiga vs Amiga match can be kind of interesting.
-the dice are now rolled 1000 times before the first game and
the result is stored in a look up table. One mouse click in
the lower left corner will write this table out to your RAM:
disk so you can examine what the future dice rolls are going
to be. This may alleviate a few accusations that ProGammon
tends to roll just the right thing at just the right time.
It's just lucky when it does!
-another 101 changes in the AI, some good some not so good!
-and finally, a new icon.
Good luck!
